CJS 528/CIS 420: Course Info

This course is designed to get you started with forensics. It assumes you only have a basic understanding of computers (e.g. how to format a floppy disk, how to use a word processor, etc.) The course provides a lab area for you to work but having access to a computer at home will greatly facilitate you in this course as forensics analysis can take a lot of time. That said: Forensics analysis takes a LOT OF TIME. It's fun and interesting but like all investigative practise it takes time to fully analyze data and prepare it. The class is not really geared towards the CCE exam except in basic idea. A second course is being developed to allow this or you can consider taking a bootcamp or online study for the CCE via Roger Williams (see the professional development center). Key Computer also offers these (I usually teach the local ones and the ones in San Francisco, Dave Good in VA, and John Mellon in Atlanta). Contact me if you are interested in this.
