Wiki Book

As an experiment, we are going to write our own book for the class. This is a project for which you will receive a grade. The Wiki book idea will save you about 135$ and will demonstrate what real IT professionals already know, books are old. It takes 1-2 years to get a book in print so the most current information is always on the web. While most of us have books on the shelves, think about it, what is your first approach to a problem, Google or some other search. Thus, we are trying an experiment.

1) Wiki topics are covered in class. You will have class notes to provide information about the wiki topic that you are researching.

2) Research consists of not just the first hit you find but TWO (at least) cross referenced hits. Just because some 12 year old named Viktor posted it, doesn't make it accurate or true.

3) Take the topic, and find relevant information about that topic such that you can answer all the questions in the exercise. You should build this into a volume that you will submit for a grade.

4) Grades will be based on answering the questions, citations and cross reference, professionalism.

5) You don't have to necessarily write anything, just gather information. You can certainly process it if you like but you must cite the sources you used.
