This lab is from a real problem that is very relevant today. I was once asked to analyze people's bank balances to see if there any anomolies. Now, anomolies are hard to figure out but we were looking for people with problematic behaviors (sound familiar New Yorkers?). Basically, you have a data file (called payData.dat) which contains a last name and 52 weeks of checking account balances for that person. You need to identify any person(s) who have unusual patterns with their accounts.
Some ideas:
Test statistical patterns, normal, etc.
Test for S.D. type issues.
What you are looking for is any kind of behavior which might indicate the person is being paid extra, spending more than usual, or other anomolies.
