CIS 100: Objectives

Fall 2008


Course Objectives

•  Students shall understand the hardware and software components of a personal computer.

•  Students shall understand the difference in low, average, and high end computing systems.

•  Students shall understand cooling concepts for a variety of approaches.

•  Students shall understand the basic ideas of overclocking systems.

•  Students shall understand the basic ideas of troubleshooting hardware issues.

•  Students shall understand installation of Windows Operating Systems and basic software installs.

•  Students shall understand installation of Linux Operating Systems and basic concepts for Linux.

•  Students shall be able to configure basic switched networks using TCP/IP on both Windows and Linux Platforms.

•  Students shall understand basic software licensing issues and ethical practice for managing software.

•  Students shall understand basic email concepts and practice.
